Why we evolved from Brokers Online to Pocket
After 20+ years in insurance broking, we’ve sharpened our focus: we’re now a specialist brokerage built exclusively for small business founders.
What's changed
Why "Pocket"?
The problem we kept seeing:
Small business founders, especially those with 0–10 employees, were being overlooked by big brokers (considered too small to matter) and overwhelmed by generic brokers (advice designed for 500-person enterprises, rather than 5-person startups).
We’d built our practice around these founders. But our name, “BrokersOnline”, didn’t communicate that focus.
The realisation:
After hundreds of conversations with small business owners, we noticed a pattern:
- They wanted more than “comprehensive insurance solutions” or “enterprise-grade coverage.”
- They wanted insurance that fit in their pocket. Right-sized. Easy to understand. There when needed. Not weighing them down.
The decision:
Rebrand to Pocket—a name that signals:
- Right-sized for small business (not trying to be everything to everyone)
- Always with you (in your pocket, not a faceless corporate broker)
- Simple and accessible (not complicated or intimidating)
What this means for you
If you’re an existing client:
Nothing changes. Same team, same service, same everything—just a clearer name that reflects who we serve.
Our old email addresses (@brokersonline.co) still work. We’ve set up forwarding so you don’t have to update anything unless you want to.
If you’re a prospective client:
You’ll notice we’re clearer about who we serve: small businesses starting, scaling and staying protected.
