Insurance built for small businesses. By people who actually get it.
Most insurance brokers treat small businesses like mini-versions of big companies. They use the same jargon, the same processes, the same “we’ll call you at renewal” approach.
That’s broken.
Small businesses don’t need a corporate insurance service. We built Pocket because we’ve been there. We are there. And we know insurance can be better.

What makes Pocket different
We speak small business, not insurance broker
No “underwriting capacity” or “indemnity provisions.” Just plain English about what you’re covered for, what it costs, and what happens if you need to claim. If we’re using jargon, we’re doing it wrong.
We adapt as you grow
Your insurance at pre-launch looks nothing like the insurance you have when you hire employee #5. We check in proactively, not just at renewal, to ensure your cover matches your current location, not your location 12 months ago.
We don’t disappear after the sale
Most brokers ghost you after you sign. We don’t. Annual reviews, claims support, “hey, I’m thinking about hiring someone, what changes?” calls, we’re here for all of it. Insurance isn’t a transaction. It’s a partnership.

Meet the team
Sam Raco
Head of Broking
Your main contact. The person who actually picks up the phone.
Sam’s been in insurance for nearly 20 years, which means there’s not much she hasn’t seen. Tier 1 qualified, NIBA Associate member, and genuinely good at translating insurance-speak into “here’s what you actually need.”
However, what matters more than credentials is that Sam ran her own small business for years. She knows what it’s like to juggle cash flow, worry about whether you’re properly covered, and just want someone to tell you straight what you need without upselling.
When you work with Pocket, you work with Sam. She’s the one who reviews your cover, explains your options, and fights for your claims. She’s also the one who’ll check in when your business changes, because she actually cares whether you’re protected.
Outside of insurance: Sam plays drums, lifts weights, and spends weekends exploring West Gippsland with her husband, two kids, and two dogs.

Ben Webster
Junior Broker
The founder behind Pocket. Also learning to be a broker.
I’ve spent over 15 years building insurtechs, including travel insurance, pet insurance, and sanctions compliance platforms. I understand insurance from the product side, the tech side, and the “why is this so complicated” founder side.
However, I also wanted to understand it from the broker’s side. So I’m working toward my full broker qualification (currently Tier 1) while running Pocket. Why? Because I’m genuinely fascinated by how insurance actually works, and because if I’m going to build a brokerage for founders, I should know what I’m talking about.
I’m not your primary contact; that’s Sam. She’s the expert. However, I’m building the systems, processes, and founder-first approach that make Pocket different. I’m also the person who obsesses over things like “how do we make policy renewals not suck” and “why can’t insurance feel more like talking to a mate who knows their stuff.”
I built Pocket because I’ve been the founder on the other side of the table—the one trying to work out if $5M or $10M Public Liability is right, the one getting ghosted by brokers, the one who just wants straight answers. I know what good insurance service looks like because I know what bad insurance service feels like.
